Helping our Children to Stay Safe

At Trimley St Mary Primary School, we ensure that we provide a safe environment for all our pupils and we recognise that all children are deserving of our care, support and protection, including when they are online.

The use of computers, social media platforms, apps and games has increased dramatically over recent years and as adults we can sometimes feel a little overwhelmed with the changes and trying to keep up!  Children are amazing with their use of computers and their ability to understand and operate the new technology, but we must ensure that they do this within a safe environment.

Within school, we embrace the internet as a valuable resource, however we also recognise the dangers that it may present to our pupils.  Online safety is taught through the year, to all year groups so that children know how to keep themselves safe and what to do if they have any concerns.

To help the adults, we have highlighted some really useful websites that provide some great, up to date information about the latest apps/games and online trends.  We encourage you to read through these and maybe start a conversation at home to reinforce our safety messages.

If you have any concerns about a child's online safety please do speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance.
